About Our Breeds
The Breeds We Raise — Distinct, Devoted, and Chosen With Intention
We’ve learned over the years that no two families want the same thing from a kitten. Some want constant cuddles, some want playful energy, and some are drawn to something rare and unforgettable. Our Sphynx, Devon Rex, and Lykoi kittens reflect those differences, each with a personality and presence that stands out in its own way.
01
Sphynx
A breed known for its warm, suede-like skin, high intelligence, and exceptionally affectionate temperament.
02
Devon Rex
An elegant breed characterized by its large ears, soft curly coat, and highly social nature that thrives on human interaction.
03
Lykoi
A rare and unique breed with striking appearance, and strong prey drive balanced with loyal companionship.
The Sphynx — For Homes That Love Warmth, Devotion, and Unforgettable Connection
The Sphynx is the kind of cat who turns every day into a shared moment. They’re famously affectionate, deeply social, and absolutely thrive on human connection. Whether they’re curled into your arms, “supervising” your routine, or chirping for your attention, they bring a presence that feels personal and incredibly loving.
This is the breed for someone who wants a companion, not just a pet, who truly chooses you as their person.

- Big lemon-shaped eyes that give them an alert, almost human-like gaze
- Muscular, elegant bodies that show off every curve and line
Our Sphynx cats come from health-tested, HCM-screened, TICA-registered lines. Kittens are raised in our home with hands-on socialization, warmth-based routines, and gentle grooming so they grow into confident, connected companions who understand human touch and affection from their earliest days.
The Devon Rex — For Homes That Love Play, Personality, and a Little Bit of Magic
Devon Rex cats have a way of taking over a room without ever trying. Between their oversized ears, big expressive eyes, and soft, rippled coats, they look like tiny mythical creatures—and their personalities are just as unforgettable. They’re curious, clever, mischievous, and always ready to be part of whatever you’re doing.
This is the breed for families who want movement, laughter, and a companion who never loses their sense of fun.
Why Our Families Love the Devon Rex
- They’re playful, goofy, and endlessly entertaining
- Their curiosity makes them interactive and people-focused
- They’re loving without being overly demanding
- They fit beautifully into busy, active households
- Their light, wavy coat sheds very little and gives them their signature “pixie” look
A Few Physical Features That Make Them Stand Out
- Large, elf-like ears that give them a quirky silhouette
- Wide eyes that make them incredibly expressive
- A soft, curly, almost velvet-like coat
- A delicate, athletic frame built for climbing and acrobatics
Our Devon Rex kittens come from health-tested, thoughtfully paired parents and are raised in our home with hands-on socialization that helps them grow into confident, people-centered companions.
The Lykoi — For For Those Drawn to the Rare, the Observant, and the Unmistakably Unique
The Lykoi is one of those breeds you don’t forget once you’ve met one. Their appearance is striking, the partially coated werewolf look, the bright, alert eyes, the delicate roaning pattern, but it’s their personality that truly stands out. They are thoughtful, intuitive cats who study their world before diving in, and when they bond with their person, the connection is deep and unmistakably loyal.
This is the breed for families who appreciate rarity, intelligence, and a companion with a presence all their own.
Why Our Families Love the Lykoi
- They’re intelligent, observant, and love problem-solving
- Their bond tends to be strong and selective, in a meaningful way
- They enjoy interactive play and mental enrichment
- They’re affectionate, but in a grounded, intuitive way
- Their personalities feel more “aware” than the average cat
The Physical Features That Make Them Iconic
- Their partially coated, roaned fur gives that signature “wolf cat” look
- Wide, bright eyes that stay alert and expressive
- Sparse hair around the face that highlights their werewolf-like silhouette
- A coat that can change with seasons, making each Lykoi visually unique
All Lykoi breeding cats at Royal Velvets are DNA tested, health screened, and intentionally paired to preserve the breed’s structure, temperament, and wellbeing. Because the Lykoi is a naturally occurring mutation, not a designer creation, responsible breeding matters deeply.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do your kittens come from health-tested lines?
Yes. All Sphynx, Devon Rex, and Lykoi breeding cats are health tested, HCM screened, and receive regular veterinary care to ensure responsible, ethical breeding.
Are your kittens TICA registered?
Yes. We are a TICA-registered cattery, and all eligible kittens come with proper registration and documentation.
Are all of these breeds hairless?
No. Only the Sphynx is truly hairless.
The Devon Rex has a soft, curly, low-shedding coat, and the Lykoi has a partially coated, naturally sparse “roan” coat with some hairless areas. Each breed has its own unique texture and look.
Are Sphynx cats hypoallergenic?
Not fully. No cat is truly hypoallergenic. However, many allergy-sensitive families find the Sphynx easier to live with because they don’t shed fur around the home. Their lack of a traditional coat reduces the spread of allergens—but individual reactions vary.
Do hairless or partially coated breeds require special maintenance?
Yes. Hairless and partially coated cats need regular bathing, ear cleaning, and nail trimming. We guide every family through their care routine so you feel completely confident from day one.
What’s the temperament difference between the breeds?
Sphynx: deeply affectionate and people-oriented
Devon Rex: playful, silly, and always involved
Lykoi: intelligent, observant, and quietly intuitive
Do you raise your kittens in your home?
Absolutely. Every kitten is raised in our home with daily handling, early socialization, and exposure to normal household rhythms to help them grow into confident, people-centered companions.
Do you offer delivery?
Yes. We provide safe, concierge-level travel options for families who need transport.
