Our Goals for the Coming Year: Health, Preservation, and Purpose at Our Cattery
As we step into a new year, we do so with clarity, intention, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. At our cattery, every breeding decision is guided by three core pillars: health, integrity, and the long-term preservation of each breed we steward.
We do not simply breed cats—we protect legacies. Each of our programs is thoughtfully designed to combat known health concerns, strengthen genetic diversity, and ensure that every kitten born into our Royal House is given the healthiest possible start in life.
Below, we’re proud to share our goals for the year ahead and how we plan to continue improving and safeguarding each of our cherished breeds.
Sphynx Cats: Strengthening Heart Health & Genetic Diversity
The Sphynx is a remarkable and affectionate breed, but like many pedigreed cats, it comes with specific health considerations—most notably Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).
Our Focus for the Year:
-
Continued HCM screening and monitoring across our breeding lines
-
Ongoing collaboration with trusted veterinarians and specialists
-
Strong partnerships with our kitten families who commit to annual HCM echocardiograms and report results back to us
This collective effort allows us to make informed, responsible breeding decisions that directly impact the future of the breed.
Looking Ahead:
To further strengthen our Sphynx program, we plan to introduce additional outcrossing where appropriate. This will help:
-
Diversify the gene pool
-
Reduce genetic bottlenecks
-
Support stronger, more resilient future generations
Our goal is not just healthy cats today—but a healthier Sphynx breed for decades to come.
Devon Rex: Protecting Structure, Soundness & Mobility
The Devon Rex is known for its elfin features, intelligence, and playful spirit. However, structural soundness—particularly hips and patellas—is critical to the long-term welfare of this breed.
Our Commitment:
-
Zero tolerance for hip dysplasia or patella luxation in our breeding program
-
Careful evaluation of structure, movement, and balance
-
Breeding only cats that meet both health and physical soundness standards
This has always been a non-negotiable principle in our Devon Rex program.
Our Goal:
To continue producing Devon Rex cats that are not only beautiful and type-correct, but also:
-
Physically strong
-
Pain-free
-
Built for long, active, happy lives
Protecting the integrity of the breed means never compromising where it matters most.
Lykoi: Advancing Skin Health & Breed Preservation
The Lykoi—often called the “werewolf cat”—is a rare and extraordinary breed with a unique coat and appearance. Unlike many breeds, the only consistently observed health concern in Lykoi is skin health, making this a primary focus of our work.
Our Passion & Purpose:
Skin health is deeply important to us and to the original founders of the breed. This year, we will continue:
-
Studying skin patterns, regeneration, and resilience
-
Selecting breeding cats with the healthiest skin expression
-
Sharing data and observations to help advance the breed as a whole
Our Long-Term Vision:
-
Preserve the authenticity of the Lykoi
-
Improve skin consistency without sacrificing breed integrity
-
Push the breed forward in the healthiest, most ethical direction possible
This work is both a responsibility and an honor.
Our Promise Moving Forward
As a preservation-focused cattery, we believe transparency, education, and accountability are essential. Every goal we set is rooted in love for the cats and respect for the breeds we represent.
This year—and every year—we promise to:
-
Put health before numbers
-
Make data-driven, ethical breeding decisions
-
Work alongside veterinarians, fellow breeders, and our extended cattery family
-
Continue evolving as knowledge and science advance
Thank you for being part of our journey and for supporting responsible, health-centered breeding. The future is bright—and we are honored to help shape it.
